Do you have one of those dresses that you can just pull out and wear whenever? That go-to dress that is comfortable, darling, and forgiving after a night of cheesecake binge-eating. This floral beauty is that dress for me. The pattern is utterly timeless: button down front, collar, pleated skirt, pockets, and a waist band to create a perfect hour glass figure. My husband calls this my "Betty Draper" dress, but the pattern is easily modified for a shorter, more modern feel.
This dress pattern is the
McCalls M6696 dress pattern. I have probably made like 5 or 6 dresses from this pattern set alone. It is so versatile, giving you the option of a sleeveless, short-sleeved, or long-sleeved bodice or fitted skirt.
The fabric for this dress was vintage crepe-de-chine, a bit of fabric more than 50 years old. Oh, how I love it.
